Operating Procedure
The user fills the sample chamber with 15 - 100 ml of sample, defines the sample in a simple dialog box, selects the desired experiment protocol, and clicks on "RUN".

For Zeta potential measurements sample volume can be as little as 0.1 ml.

When the measurement is complete, the user empties the sample, and then rinses the system with water or suitable cleaning solution.

Available Options
Automatic Titration with 1or 2 burettes
pH / Temperature measurement
Conductivity measurement, aqueous and non-aqueous
Circulating pump for very viscous samples
Ports for remote "on-line" measurements                                     Rheology longitudinal                                            Temperature heating control

(1) Instrument can measure attenuation spectra well beyond 50 vol %, but theory for computing PSD from this data is limited to 50 vol % and theory for computing zeta potential is limited to 40 vol %.  The isoelectric pH is accurate over the entire range, however, some decrease in the absolute value of zeta potential may be experienced as one approaches the volume fraction limits.

(2) In calculating the particle size the important viscosity is that experienced by the particle as it moves in response to the sound wave.  This "microviscosity" in cases such as gels or other structured systems may be significantly less than the viscosity of the media measured with conventional rheometers which measure viscosity over a scale much larger than the particle.
(3) For titration experiments it may be necessary to use external circulation pump to provide adequate mixing of reagents for quite viscous samples.

(4) For titration experiments it may be necessary to use the optional external circulation pump to provide adequate mixing of reagents for quite viscous samples.

(5) Particle size range for zeta potential measurement might depend on the density contrast.
